I don't understand why us customers are having to suffer under the number of people who are draining the servers, who havn't paid for the game, and making us customers suffer.

Anet should have saw this coming, and upgraded their servers to cope with the weekend. It's been absolutly impossible to play gw over the weekend. Err7 galore, 1kb/s download speed, new builds of guild wars every other hour, and the lag is beyond explainable.

saying all that, all the skills take about 10 seconds to load. If i click on someone, casting a spell / skill, the image is a little egg timer for about 2 seconds. My skill bar goes blank for a few seconds, black boxes, egg timers, all sorts. I mean, what is going on?!

Erm... I get the hourglass thing for 1/2s max. After the first day, there isn't any more abnormal lag at all. Not sure why you're overloaded with lag..

Arenanet did the global keys for the Factions PvP event, and the servers were so strained they were laggy for months. They just got them repaired/upgraded, and they did it again. Be prepared for horrible lag for another 2 months.

Um... I understand why. If Anet lets more people try out the game, then its more likely that more people will buy the game. Which would lead to more money, and that in turn leads to better servers. So really its a good thing. So what if the weekend is a bit laggy everythings going to be deleted, so you can start from scratch and enjoy the full experience of it when it releases.

Good theory, but doesn't work in practice. At least, it didn't in Factions case. According to NCSoft, Factions sold really well, and it took them around 3 months to fix the shit that happened to the servers, after release, there was a month before Factions release where the servers sucked as well after that event.

this is a load test and it is a beta preview event what is hard to understand about this...

YOU PAID NOTHING FOR THIS PREVIEW EVENT...

you cant do a load test without trying to max out the servers and you cant have a beta and NOT fix the problems...

this event was not strickly made so you can enjoy yourself or to suck new players into the game...

ITS CALLED QUALITY CONTROL

What lag?
I'm not experiencing the slightest lag today. It is hell of a lot better than the Factions Preview with the constant rubber banding.

So they are hiring us to go through a long period of lag and not enjoying ourselfs, which is what a game is about?

You might want to check your personal connection first. I'm connecting from europe, the realm of lag and this weekend has zero lag (minus small bugs in the NIghtfall preview that have been fixed). Yes, zero lag. Even normal playing with no event is lagging more... so check your fricking connection and stop insulting others.

Heh this is becomeing a flamefest fast. Name calling and porn insinuations. Now lets move on the your mother jokes, and maybe through in a few discriminating remarks. Seriously lets grow up.

I personally don't experience much lag while I play. Occassionally I do get some, but when I login to see over 40 districts in some towns, then I'm not surprised that its there. As sinican said this isn't just to give us a treat, but it also allows them to test it out abit. Some peoples connections can handle it others can't, or at least not as well. Alas, the bane of online games.

I'm on the best package broadband. I usually get 600kb download speeds from arenanet servers, but i'm because set back to 0-10kb.

Which yes, means the servers bandwidth is being drained. So it has nothing to do with my internet connection.

Hmmmm.. As opposed to people who type in all lower case with no punctuation.

I'll be amazed if this thread is even here the next time I log in.

For the record. Had a fair bit of lag the first couple of hours, but only in towns and outposts. I've been fairly impressed with it as a preview of what's to come.

Hi,

Welcome to the wonderful world of a MMOG, without a monthly subscription fee. Where sales of the game is the only thing keeping things going. Rather than the steady flow of incoming cash from already subscribed customers.

Marketing goes into a full gear and "Free Events" are put into play where 1000's of additional players can hop on to an already struggling sever structure and play the game for free. With hopes to attract more sales.

A MMOG without a monthly subscription fee. It's going to suck sometimes. Get used to it.

There really isn't any lag for me neither. Lagging people must have slow connection speed, or even Dial Up .

Also, check for hidden P2P programs uploading from other comps on your network. CTRL+ALT+DEL and find them in the processes list. I have to do it on my brothers for Ares because it doesnt un-install and it doesnt show in the Icon tray.

For those of us who are lagging, it is clearly obvious that this is not related to our connections. I have no problem doing anything outside of Guild Wars, but inside, I'll freeze for about 2 seconds every 10 seconds, skills take 1 second to activate, it's horrendous! Last night it was fine (after a while), but today it's just horrible.
